Where Our Data Comes From

Every figure, answer, and statistic on this site comes from a verifiable source. Here’s exactly what we use:

NYT Wordle API

Today’s answer is fetched directly from the official New York Times Wordle endpoint — the same source the game itself uses. No guessing, inference, or scraping involved.

Free Dictionary API

Word definitions, part of speech, etymology, and example sentences are sourced from a free dictionary API — an open, free dictionary API. Definitions are cached for 7 days and re-fetched when the API updates.

Community solve data and WordleBot

Average guess counts and difficulty ratings incorporate publicly available player data, NYT tester averages when published, and algorithmic estimates using WordleBot’s methodology for puzzles without measured data.

Historical answer archive

Past answers from puzzle #1 to the current date are maintained in our own database, cross-referenced with the NYT API and public records. Repeat answers are tracked and updated as they occur.

Our Accuracy Commitment

Getting Wordle information wrong is not a minor inconvenience — it can spoil a player’s daily game or mislead them about how the puzzle works. We take accuracy seriously.

What we commit to:

Today’s answer is always verified against the live NYT API before it is published. We do not use predicted or inferred answers.
We correct errors publicly. If a piece of information on this site is wrong, we update it and note the correction. We do not quietly delete inaccurate content.
We update when the facts change. Key example: many sites still say Wordle never repeats answers. The NYT began repeating answers in February 2026. Our repeat answers page was updated with the confirmed date and full list as soon as the pattern was established.
Every evergreen page carries a “last verified” date so you can see when the information was last checked.
Statistics are calculated from all published answers, not estimated. When figures come from external sources, those sources are named.
